FactoryLink V8
UTC Features
FactoryLink 8.0 now allows users to choose between logging the timestamp as
displayed on the server or logging the time in UTC (Universal Coordinated
Time). Customers who have clients connected in different time zones or
where government archiving requirements are in effect can turn on this new
feature even in existing applications with minimal changes to the application.

Logging timestamps in UTC is easy for developers who already use SQL Server or
Oracle. Changing the Column Usage also changes the time base being logged
to the database.

Customers using Data Point Logger can also use UTC as the time basis for
logging.

Trending automatically adjusts the data displayed to account for the
difference between the logged UTC time and the time zone of the client.

Each database to be used with trending needs simple configuration to specify
information like time column and UTC.

Even raw data displayed via the Database Browser control can be made to
automatically display the time in a format that an operator can relate to actual
time displayed by the client.

Even the alarm control translates the times stored with the alarm history to
display current time for the operators. This ensures that there is no
confusion between the time the alarm is activated and the operator evaluates the
situation.
